Nelson Says Dems’ Plan Could Have Goodies for Florida

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., said a $1 trillion infrastructure plan from Senate Democrats could help boost projects in Florida.

In a news release Tuesday, Nelson said money could be used to restore Amtrak service along the Gulf Coast and extend the SunRail system in the Orlando area. Also, he said the plan could lead to money for deepening ports, fixing the state’s roads and speeding up repairs to the Herbert Hoover Dike around Lake Okeechobee.

“Florida is growing at a rate of nearly 1,000 people per day,” Nelson said in the news release. “You can imagine the toll that’s taking on our state’s infrastructure. This is our chance to make some much-needed repairs and create millions of new jobs in the process.”
