U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan met Tuesday with Republican legislative leaders to discuss issues such as revamping the federal tax code and improving water quality in Florida, according to a release from Buchanan’s office.
Taking part in the meeting were state House Speaker Richard Corcoran, Senate President Joe Negron, Senate Higher Education Appropriations Chairman Bill Galvano, House Education Chairman Michael Bileca, House Appropriations Chairman Carlos Trujillo and House Commerce Chairman Jose Felix Diaz.
“Fixing our broken tax code will boost Main Streets all across Florida,” Buchanan said in a prepared statement after the meeting. “Florida’s economy will expand if we lower tax rates, simplify an overly complex tax code and eliminate unnecessary regulations. We all want to create more high-paying jobs for Floridians and make our state attractive for successful businesses.”
